Dan, This is what our folks from the Operations Center have told us. Signal> contractor(Traffic Control Devices, Inc.) can't install mastarm located on the north side of 10th Street, because their road contractor(Petro-Hydro, Inc.) hasn't been responsive enough in the installation of a guardrail that is needed to protect the mastarm's upright at that location. In our last meeting, held on January 16, 2007, our construction folks agreed to use their signal contractor(Traffic Control Devices, Inc.) for the installation of the guardrail in an effort to complete this project before March 23, 2007, when the signal construction contract will expire. The remaining work consists of installation of the power by FP&L, installation of mastarm and signal heads on the north side, guardrail installation and final inspection by Broward County Traffic Engineering Division. Since we aren't in control of the construction of this project and since I don't like to speak on behalf of construction, In the future please contact Ms. Maria Connolly, P.E., Ft. Lauderdale Operations Engineer at 954-958-7633. She oversees ALL projects in Broward County. Thanks Jose R. Guerrero, P.E. HISTORY6 Lane Divided Roadway On March 28, 2006 John Krane, a transportation planning engineer from the Department of Transportation responded to an inquiry from homeowner Dan Bogner regarding the status of improvements to SW 10th Street. Below is an excerpt from his email:"...The Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) has identified SW 10 Street from Powerline Road to I-95 as being improved to a 6-Lane divided roadway. As noted by Jonathan Overton, there is nothing in the current 5-Year Work Program of the FDOT. However, we update our Work Program annually, based on the annual MPO project priority list. Should this become a priority for the MPO, we would look to fund project development phases in our Work Program. You should also be aware that in 2007 Florida's Turnpike is instituting open road tolling at the Toll Plaza, which will allow Sun Pass users to pass through the plaza without the need to pass through a toll booth. There are not any current plans to widen the section between the Toll Plaza and Powerline Road. It is feasible, however, to expect this section of roadway to be studied in conjunction with any proposed widening east of Powerline Road, to ensure safe mobility along the entire segment to I-95...You may review the Plan in its entirety at the following URL:.."
New Traffic Signal & Right Turn Lane On April 4, 2006 Dan Bogner received the following email from Jonathan M. Overton, the assistant district traffic operations engineer at the Florida Department of Transportation. "...This is a follow-up email informing you of the construction schedule of 2 projects on SW 10th Street. 1. SW 28th Avenue - install new traffic signal Unless major emergencies occur (ie, hurricanes) that cause our resources to be diverted, construction is anticipated to begin by the end of December 2006. The current delay was caused by Hurricane Wilma. 2. SW 24th Avenue - install eastbound to southbound right turn lane Construction is anticipated to begin within 3 weeks. For project progress reports, please contact Ms. Maria Connolly, PE, Fort Lauderdale Operations Engineer copied on this email..." On April 20, 2006 Dan Bogner was copied on the following email sent to Representative Slosberg "...Mr. Representative Slosberg, This e-mail is to provide you with a status report of subject intersection where the Department intend to construct an eastbound right turn lane. Our Ft. Lauderdale Operations Center issued on April 17, 2006, a construction work order to their roadway contractor, Petro-Hydro, Inc. The expected completion date is June, 2006, barring any unforeseen circumstances..." |
