[Fall Family Fun]

Hello neighbors,

There is some important information I want to tell you about and some fun city activities that I'm sure your family will enjoy.

First, there is a Regular Commission Meeting, Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 6:45 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers of the City Hall Complex, 150 Northeast Second Avenue, Deerfield Beach, Florida.

I want to encourage you all to come out to hear the City Commission debate a very important topic that I have brought forth; a proposal aimed at preventing retail pet stores from selling puppies from puppy mills. "Puppy Mills", as many of you are already aware, are responsible for inhumane breeding conditions. There has been an intense social media marketing campaign that I feel has been misleading the public on the facts. I encourage all of you to attend this meeting to hear both sides of the argument. I want to thank those of you who have been vocal about your support on this issue. Please keep your emails coming and let your voice be heard at this very important meeting.

Secondly, I want to let you know that the city, with the help of View Into the Blue and the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Ft Lauderdale(CVB) have just installed an underwater camera at the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier. While it has not gone live yet our promotional video on Facebook has been a huge hit. Since it went up two weeks ago it has received more than 40,000 hits and over 300 shares. Once we are up and running, the video of the beautiful fish beneath our pier will stream live on the CVB's, Hello Sunny website as well as the city's website. To see that promo video log click here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OystMs6JgbA>!

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Halloween weekend and urge you to be safe, especially if you are taking your kids trick-or-treating. Please be careful with the roadways and try collecting candy before the sun goes down. I have asked the Broward Sheriff's Office for an increase in patrol over the weekend, so do not be alarmed if you see an increased presence.

Finally, below I have included lots of activities happening over the next few weeks. I am very proud of our staff who work diligently to bring great programming and events to our city, so I hope you take advantage of these family-friendly happenings.

Have a safe Hallows Eve Weekend!
Bill Ganz
Vice Mayor
