Planners hope visioning session will produce plan for northwest Deerfield's
future

Deerfield Beach - Urban planning graduates from Florida Atlantic University
will hold a virtual workshop focusing on the long-term development of
northwest Deerfield Beach Monday, Oct. 5 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.   (see
information about zoom webinar sign up)

Participating will be this city's planning staff, business owners and
residents of the area bounded by Military Trail, the Florida Turnpike,
Southwest 10 Street and the Hillsboro Canal.

This visionary workshop is tasked with "shaping the future of northwest
Deerfield Beach." Discussed will be community building, transportation,
commercial uses, housing needs, parks improvements and infrastructure.

The area is significant for its many residential neighborhoods, Constitution
Park and Arboretum, a major shopping center and some high-tech industrial
parks.

Commissioner Todd Drosky who represents the area said, "One of the outcomes
I would like to see from this project is the better development of the four
corners [Powerline Road and Hillsboro Boulevard] into a destination akin to
The Cove on the east side of the city.

"The western communities deserve their own places to shop and dine and this
is the next step in that direction."
