Deerfield Beach Well-Represented on Broward County Planning Council

The City of Deerfield Beach is proud and excited to announce that for the
first time in at least 20 years, two Deerfield Beach residents have been
appointed to the Broward County Planning Council. Deerfield Beach District 4
Commissioner, Bill Ganz and District 3 Activist, Bernie Parness were
appointed to the council on February 3rd by newly-elected Broward County
Commissioner Mark Bogen.

This is especially important because the county is currently entering into
the process of reviewing and revising the goals, objectives and policies of
the Broward County Land Use Plan. These policies will have a clear and
significant impact on the future of planning in Broward County and, in turn,
those who live and work in the county.

The Broward County Planning Council was created in 1974 and has 20 members,
18 of which are appointed by the County Commission. The Planning Council is
a multi-jurisdictional agency that oversees comprehensive, long-range
planning throughout the county with the cooperation and participation of
local governments. This agency is entrusted with the responsibility of
preparing the countywide land-use plan, preserving the county plans for
roadway right-of-way and reviewing plats and development proposals to ensure
proposed uses are consistent with those permitted by the effective land-use
plan designation.

Deerfield Beach congratulates Commissioner Ganz and Mr. Parness as they
embark on this very important responsibility that will impact our city and
the county for decades to come.
