All,
I just received a copy this notice from one of our community residents of Waterford Homes, and as I and many of you probably were never notified, there is an effort to install more speed tables in our community. The board was not aware of this effort, as nobody had brought this to our attention, as well as the failure of the city in letting us know of this project. We have asked the city to better communicate with us, but once again they fell short. Furthermore, I learned that our commissioner was not made aware of the work planned in the coming weeks. Although the city still has the right respond to complaints, and to to communicate with just the small number of residents in the area, the bigger problem is that many are still not aware of these efforts and were never afforded the opportunity to comment.
I have spoken to John Melton and asked him to hold off the project until all of the residents of Waterford can be made aware and comment. So this is the effort that the board is trying to communicate as the City will NOT send letters to all of the residents. Heck, the notices that did go to a few were not even mailed, but rather stuck in door jams. Not the proper way to do this in my opinion. However I did speak to Commissioner Drosky about this today, and he agrees that the city should have communicate with the board so that at the very least we have gotten the word out to everyone via our email list and other social media platforms.
So now is your chance to comment. Whether if you are for or against the speed bumps, please email John Melton at jmelton at deerfield-beach.com or call him at 954-520-0186. Do it immediately, as the decision to move forward will be in just a few days. I have no idea if any of the Waterford Courtyard residents are engaged as well, but regardless all should have been notified.
We have asked the city to properly communicate plans so we as the board can communicate with the residents. That is the purpose of Waterford Homes Homeowners Association, we are the liaison with the city of Deerfield Beach. We would also ask that if any residents wish to engage the city for any projects that affect our community, it would be greatly appreciated if you can notify the board or at the very least utilize the email list or NextDoor. This way the entire community can have a say and support or comment accordingly.
It is just the right thing to do.
So please do this today. If you are for it or not, please contact John today. This way all of the residents can at least say they were aware and have commented accordingly.
Respectfully,
Lu Vencl
President, Waterford Homes.
